Classroom Training in Portland – MIP Advanced Report Writing

Welter Consulting and RBP Methods are teaming up to offer classroom training for Abila MIP Fund Accounting. Want to brush up on your skills? Here’s your chance. Or maybe you’ve added team members to your staff and they’ve never been formally trained on the application. This is the perfect option for getting them up to speed.

Those attending this class will gain an understanding of:
• Report groups and their use in reporting throughout the system
• Financial statement formats, including how to set-up the various statement types and use in F/S
• Best practices surrounding the presentation of financial statements, which will consider the users/stakeholders of the information in order to customize presentation on their unique needs
• Reporting on multiple periods, across multiple fiscal years, grant/contract periods or calendar years
• Common areas to troubleshoot reported amounts to ensure the right numbers are reported
• Custom column creation for both date override and formula type columns within certain reports
• Segment substitution and its powerful effect on reporting and presentation
• Scheduler module, Executive View licenses in conjunction with advanced security, data mining opportunities and ability for other reporting tools to query and report on the data contained in MIP
• Various ways to collect and report on data to our grantors/funders by utilizing the system’s advanced reporting capabilities like a table-driven chart of accounts, report groupings and financial statements
• The 10 best reports in the system and how to set-up and use these reports. We will also review the other report menu options
• Bring examples with you to discuss/resolve in class

Your nonprofit depends on fast accurate reporting to proactive their programs and the organization. Those attending MIP Report Writing Fundamentals will learn:

• How each of the tabs on the report set-up work
• Transaction entry fields within the system and how they help us pull the most efficient reports
• Report naming and archiving
• Other important tips to make reporting a breeze (common errors, fitting to a page, etc
• Export module and how to export reports into different formats – including email, excel and pdf
• Discuss the MIP scheduler module which allows you to create report binders in order to group reports for easy distribution to people throughout the agency by scheduling reports to run after hours & go directly to recipient by email, saved on network in excel or pdf or sent to a printer.
• Executive View users and how this type of licensing is useful in conjunction with the advanced security module
• Benefits of using the process manager (favorites) to store and organize reports

So whether you are new to the software or need a refresher course, this one day class will go through the core accounting modules of MIP by looking at our accounting processes and tasks, and how we accomplish those processes in Abila MIP Fund Accounting.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

• Navigation throughout the system including process manager favorites, shortcut & hot keys & the different tools bars and menus
• Review set-up of maintain records like vendors, customers, chart of accounts and distribution codes
• Review of all transaction entry screens and the purpose of each throughout the accounting core modules (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank Reconciliation Forms Designer, Data Import/Export, Grant Administration & Reporting.
• Review the features in MIP that help with efficiency & accuracy; including memorized documents, recurring documents, entry defaults, importing, batch review and posting, bank reconciliations & other period-end reconciliations and review & reporting.
• Discuss the various reports available & the purpose of each as it relates to our accounting process.
• We will focus on best practices throughout the training by looking at efficient processes, both in and out of the software
• Discuss internal controls needed by each of our accounting processes & identify areas in MIP that we can build these controls directly into the system.
